ZM-4

QRPers often use the Z-Match type tuners. The best known tuner kit up to now was the ZM-2 of EMTECH USA.

I personally used the ZM2 since years with success but I found two disadvantages which caused me to do some Internet research and to develope the new version of this little Tuner, the ZM-4

1. it is very difficult to handle low impedance antennas with an ZM2

2. ZM2 does not work at 160m

Also the idea was to make the new ZM easier to build, smaller and more durably for outdoor use.

My research in the internet and lots of own expiements resulted in a modified Schematic, which should solve all known disadvantages of the ZM2.  I used results of Charlie Lofgren, W6JJZ, und Lloxd Butler, VK5BR. The complete new ZM4 could be realizes at a little PCB which makes it easier to build and much more durably the the ugly style old construction.

At the test result page you can see how ZM4 is doing it´s job at allAmateur Radio Bands

Due to 2 different coupling windings ZM4 can be used for high and low impedance tuning

The new resonate coil plus switcheable caps allows now tuning between 1,8 and 30 MHz
